Bonja

Bonja laying comfortably on the dog bed bought especially for her by her friend Laurie. Bonja had been diagnosed with Lymphosarcoma and had already begun to lose weight. I took so many pictures of her at this time not wanting to forget but I know now I could never forget her or what she has done for my son. I miss her very much.

Bonja spends time with Dustin's little sister Willow

Dustin has turned fourteen and leads the active life of a teenager while Bonja is six and would rather rest on his bed. He and Bonja are still best friends and will be forever.

Leo Laureate Award
When we brought Bonja home, she and Dustin quickly bonded and things could not have gone better. Bonja made such an impact on Dustin's life that they were the first recipients of the Leo Laureate Award in 1997.

Leo Laureate Award
Dustin and Bonja are best friends and do many things together. Because of their unigue relationship they were chosen to receive this special award. This is a picture of them after receiving the award in the mail. We were unable to travel to California.

Bonja obtained her Canine Rarities Shows, Inc. (CRS) Championship August 31, 1997.

Dustin and Bonja won Winners Bitch and BOS in both the AM and PM shows

Dustin has shown Bonja since he was little. Bonja's back was higher then his waist when he showed her at their first National Specialty in Ohio. They came in Third out of Seven in the puppy sweeps and Fourth out of Eight in their class. It was the start of a very special time for Dustin and Bonja.

Bonja came to live with us in June of 1994. She was the only puppy in her litter with a white mark on her chest. She wore no colored ribbon to distinguish her from the rest of the litter so she was referred to as "Little Miss No Ribbon". We chose Bonja from several of her female littermates when we went to Illinois to pick her up. She was very confident but gentle and seemed easy going. We were so pleased because we wanted her to be a friend to my eight-year-old son, Dustin. He was waiting patiently at home for her to arrive.
